The Green Chimneys animal calendar features 12 months of our animals and their real-life stories. Stay up-to-date with furry and feathered friends while supporting our programs for children and the care of our animals.
Featuring the work of the award-winning photographer Jason Houston, our annual calendar provides an artful look at some of our beloved animals and stories of how they arrived — and have thrived — at Green Chimneys.
Green Chimneys animals are partners in the education and therapy of children with special needs. Through a nature-based approach to special education, children with mental health and developmental disorders are connecting with animals, establishing coping skills, and experiencing success. All proceeds support therapeutic programs for children and animals.

Crowned the best for falconry in medieval times, gyrfalcons were once reserved for kings. As the largest falcon in the world, with exquisite plumage ranging from bright white to deep charcoal, gyrs are revered for their powerful skill of flight. Their long wings make hunting waterfowl from 3,000-feet-high a feasible and fantastical feat. This falcon was flown in the sport of falconry for several years.
