9:00am - Noon
If you’re looking to introduce your child* to volunteerism our Family Volunteer Day will be both fun and meaningful.
Taking care of horses, donkeys, goats, camels, llamas, and hundreds of other animals, as well as tending to our gardens, are BIG jobs. Stalls need to be cleaned, buckets have to be scrubbed, tack needs to be maintained, garden beds need to be prepared for fall, and animals need to be fed.
We have different tasks for different ages and abilities – everyone will be able to do something. This is a great weekend activity for families. Come dressed for the weather and be prepared for a fun and interesting morning of hands-on work.
Each family will be assigned to a project at one of the following Farm locations:
The animals and gardens help Green Chimneys School students, children with special needs, make connections, build skills, and grow as individuals. Your efforts help our animals and farm and also support our students’ growth!

Crowned the best for falconry in medieval times, gyrfalcons were once reserved for kings. As the largest falcon in the world, with exquisite plumage ranging from bright white to deep charcoal, gyrs are revered for their powerful skill of flight. Their long wings make hunting waterfowl from 3,000-feet-high a feasible and fantastical feat. This falcon was flown in the sport of falconry for several years.
