From the Clinical Team
Green Chimneys has a unique, multi-faceted therapeutic program for children requiring residential treatment for a wide range of mental health concerns. We believe that every interaction with a child can be therapeutic and thus strive to create a safe and caring environment that promotes positive, trusting relationships. It is under these conditions that children can develop positive peer relationships, positive work habits and positive control over their behaviors.
Our clinical department continuously strives to find the most effective, state-of-the-art treatments. In addition to traditional individual, group, and family therapies, we provide animal-assisted and nature-based therapeutic programs. We have an active continuing education program and our clinicians attend, and present at, numerous conferences, workshops, and webinars.
Our practices are at the forefront of current clinical models. We recently participated in a multi-year study – the first in this country – of a children’s version of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and have integrated this valuable approach into our treatment practices.
We know that regardless of the success we may obtain on campus, our ultimate goal is to make sure that each child’s therapeutic gains transfer to the home, as well. We see families, medical professionals, psychiatrists, psychologists, and educators as our partners. All of us need to share our struggles and our successes, and to communicate often and openly so that the children can return as successful members of their schools, communities, and families.
